چکیده
Magnetic stimulation of neural tissue is an attractive technology because neural excitation may be affected without requiring implantation of electrodes. Pulsed discharge circuits are typically implemented for clinical magnetic stimulation systems. However, pulsed discharge systems can confound in vitro experimentation. As an alternative to pulsed discharge circuits, we present a circuit to deliver asymmetric current pulses for generation of the magnetic field. We scaled the system down using ferrite cores for the excitation coil. The scaled system allows observation using electrophysiological techniques and preparations not commonly used for investigation of magnetic stimulation. The design was refined using a comprehensive set of design equations. Circuit modeling and simulation demonstrate that the proposed system is effective for stimulating neural tissue with electric field gradients generated by time varying magnetic fields. System performance is verified through electrical test.

User Acceptance of the Microsoft Ribbon User Interface
Modern graphical user interfaces are based on the WIMP (Window, Icon, Menu, Pointing device) paradigm which has been introduced around 1980 and used without any dramatic change until today. In 2007, Microsoft introduced the Ribbon: a radically redesigned user interface for the Office suite as a reaction to increasing complexity of the Office suite user interface with each new version release. W...

Instead of ‘researching’ for perfected (yet rejected) solutions, IMAG-DLO stresses the need for a farmer participatory approach towards: local development of less perfect, yet accepted practical and low-cost technologies; based on simple and durable equipment designs suitable for local manufacture.

Molecular cloning methods based on primer and overlap extension PCR are widely used due to their simplicity, reliability, low cost and high efficiency. In this article, an efficient mega primer (MP)-mediated cloning strategy for chimeragenesis and long DNA fragment insertion is presented. MP cloning is a seamless, restriction/ligation-independent method that requires only three steps: i) the fir...
